 This week the focus on our learning was about disciple leadership. Every single week of this semester I feel like I am gaining such valuable  information and knowledge that I can apply directly to my life. This week was no exception. One of the most valuable things to me this week was in the talk given by President Kim B Cark called "Leadership with a small L". In this talk he spoke about being leaders and disciples of Christ. He gave 3 principles to live by: Principle #1: Lead by Example Principle #2 Lead with Vision Principle #3 Lead with Love With each principle he expounds on them and tells why it is important and how we can do it. In my life as a business professional and as a mother, I can see the value in always living by these three principles.  In my own home this week, I have struggled with one of my children.   This week I enjoyed reading and learning about overcoming challenges. Challenges and hardships are something that we cannot avoid. All of us at some point or another are going to run into unexpected trials. Knowing that they will come though, and preparing ourselves for those hard times can be very helpful. Even if there is not much we can do to prepare or to minimize the challenge, we can still prepare ourselves for how we might handle challenges. We can have plans set in place, and people in our circles that we know we can turn to in the tough times. Avoiding debt and saving can also help us greatly when challenges do arise.   My favorite quote from the readings this week was from President Monson. He said “I would encourage members of the Church wherever they may be to show kindness and respect for all people everywhere. The world in which we live is filled with diversity.   Based on the 7 habits from the  W07 Study: Moving Forward With a Driving Passion  activity, respond to the following questions: ·          Which of the 7 habits has the most meaning for you? I had previously read the book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” several years ago. Reading again about the 7 habits this week was a great reminder. All seven of them are important and meaningful to me. If I had to choose one that has the most meaning, I think it would be habit number one. Be Proactive. The readings quote the main idea for this habit by saying “We can choose our own response to any signals or information we receive. We have the ability to influence our own actions. Therefore, being proactive means to actively choose what our response will be in any situation rather than to react blindly.” I love the idea of not reacting blindly. In my life, this is huge.  I am at the end of week six in this semester. Each week has been thought provoking and informative. This week was no different. I enjoyed the readings and the videos. I especially appreciated the content centered around being an entrepreneur or business person, as well as having a family. I am a mother of three and have never wanted my work or my business to take away from my family. I think for many years I was under the false impression that in order to be the best mom, I needed to be a stay at home mom and nothing else. I am learning that it is more than possible to be a great mom while working on myself and achieving my goals. This time in my life I am busier than ever with the demands of my schedule. But I am finding that the time I am spending on doing things that bring me closer to my goals make me better. I am finding that being busy with good things, is a good thing.   ·          What were your key takeaways from "A Hero's Journey" video? When I was watching the “A Hero’s Journey” video, there were several things that stood out to me. I will outline them here. 1.        In the video he talked about making sure that our families and our relationships with our spouse and children are at the center of our lives. He talked about how he did not prioritize or understand the importance of time with his family soon enough. He ended up getting a divorce and learning some lessons the hard way. This is something that I do not want to go through. I am a wife and a mother to three sons. I try to remind myself often of what a sacred responsibility it is.
