W13 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

  ·          What did you learn from the  W13 Study: A Journey of Gratitude  readings and videos? This week the readings and videos contained some really amazing information! In relation to entrepreneurship, I enjoyed learning about different paths and approaches when it comes to starting a business. Learning from others experiences is extremely valuable. On a more personal note, I absolutely loved the talk An Attitude of Gratitude by Thomas S Monson. In it he gave a list of people we might have gratitude for. After reading this I was reflecting on my own life and these people and even decided to send some messages expressing my gratitude. The list included showing gratitude for mothers, fathers, teachers, friends, our country, and finally, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the reminder of what a grateful heart and mind can do for our lives. I loved thinking about the people in my life both in the past...

W12 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

As I reflect on the things I have studied this week, I am filled with gratitude for the course and the content I have been able to study. I am working ahead an extra week because my family is going on a much needed vacation for spring break next week. We are so excited to be able to take our kids on their first cruise! I am afraid that I will not have wifi while on the ship, so that is why I am finishing all of my assignments a week early. For week 12, most of the content had to do with becoming a change maker. I love this idea and found the supporting materials to be informative and enlightening. I really enjoyed the video called “Make it Personal and Make it Work”. I thought that the way the woman in the video talked about working and making a difference was super inspiring. She made a point about how blessed we are to use technology. Even the video that she was making, she made the point that not too long ago there was a time when information and videos like the one we were ...

W11 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

Looking back on this week and the things I have learned, there are several things that stand out to me. I enjoyed the resources about finding a work/life balance. This is something close to my heart because my husband and I have been in multiple jobs where we have really had to think and ponder about work life balance and have needed to look at our lives and decide if we felt our jobs were going to be worth it in the long run. My husband used to be able to work from home. His job was great and the best part about it was the family life and work life balance. He was around in the mornings to see the kids off to school. We ate lunch together almost daily, and he didn’t have a commute so his days were much shorter. I look back on those days and remember them as some of the happiest in my life. But career wise he was still hoping for growth. He ended up being considered for a much higher position- and then he was offered the job. It meant going back to the office. And it meant addi...

W10 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

This week through studying the resources for my assignments, and completing my entrepreneurial interview, I have been thinking a lot about the importance of not getting lost in thinking about worldly success and about remembering who we are and why we are here. And of course combining those things together to work in harmony.   I really loved the talk The Challenge to Become by Dallin H Oaks. He said “ Now is the time for each of us to work toward our personal conversion, toward becoming what our Heavenly Father desires us to become. As we do so, we should remember that our family relationships—even more than our Church callings—are the setting in which the most important part of that development can occur. The conversion we must achieve requires us to be a good husband and father or a good wife and mother. Being a successful Church leader is not enough. Exaltation is an eternal family experience, and it is our mortal family experiences that are best suited to prepare us...
